Our Caregivers
Unique Care carefully screens caregivers with a five step process. No caregiver is sent out on an assignment before completing all steps.
The first step is the initial telephone interview. If the caregiver shows qualities we are looking for, we then invite them in to the office for a face-to-face interview where we assess their skills, literacy, compassion, integrity, and overall personality. From there, the caregiver is prompted to take a test that will evaluate their knowledge on giving care. Our caregivers need a 95% or higher to pass through to the next step - which is thorough background screening, reference checking, and criminal record checks. Once cleared, our caregivers are put through a 2-Step PPD to ensure they are in good health to take care of our clients.

Frequently Asked Questions
What am I responsible to provide for my
live-in aide? 1. A comfortable place to sleep
You should provide your aide with bedding and somewhere to sleep, preferably a bed. A good eight hours of rest per night for the aide is requested. If you need an aide to be awake most of the night, we suggest switching your service from a live-in aide to around-the-clock care. 2. Basic daily food We suggest providing a double portion of what the aide will be preparing for the client so the aide may enjoy it also. (Note: Any special food requirements or requests made by the aide are not the clients responsibility and are up to the aide to prepare and bring along.) 3. Phone privileges As a live-in, the aide may need to use the telephone occasionally when she is not caring for the client's needs. (Note: Aides are not to make long distance phone calls unless given permission.) Are your rates the same on weekends as they are during the week? Yes. Unique Care's rates are the same on weekends and weekdays. The only time rates differ from your usual amount will be on holidays, in which rates go up to time-and-a-half.

Should I feel secure with the aide living
in my house? After 25 years of business, Unique Care takes care in providing home health aides that are reliable, efficient, caring, and trustworthy. If we had any question regarding the safety of you and your home in the company of one of our aides, we would not send them to your house. Unique Care does a thorough background screen, reference check, and criminal record check on all aides before they are hired. However, we do suggest that you store all valuable items in a safe place for your own peace of mind.
Do you provide services in assisted living facilities? Yes. As long as the assisted living facility allows outside aides to work with a client on its premises, Unique Care can accommodate this need.
Why are your rates so low compared to other senior home-care companies? Here at Unique Care we understand how high the financial burden of taking care of a loved one can be. Due to this, we work hard to keep our rates as low as we can.
